HEC Paris Announces €230M ‘Campus Of The Future’

HEC Paris is embarking on the largest transformation in its history.

Today (June 24), the premier French business school unveils a €230 million “Campus of the Future” project designed to reimagine how business education is delivered and experienced over the next half-century. The ambitious redesign of HEC Paris’ Jouy-en-Josas campus, located just outside Paris, will focus on sustainability, inclusion, and interdisciplinary learning.

The school will break ground in late 2026. Construction is expected to be completed by summer 2031.

“This project is much more than a construction initiative — it’s a promise,” says Éloïc Peyrache, dean of HEC Paris, in a news release. “A promise to future generations: to offer a place where academic excellence, environmental responsibility, modernity and openness come together. A place to learn, to elevate ambitions, and to make a meaningful impact on the world.”

A COMPREHENSIVE VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Designed by a consortium of world-renowned architects — including Snøhetta, NeM, Pierre-Antoine Gatier, and RF Studio — and coordinated by Sogelym Dixence and Linkcity, the project will be led by Bouygues Construction. The new campus is being funded through loans and philanthropic contributions to the HEC Foundation.

The transformation centers around four key strategic goals. First, HEC Paris aims to create a new centralized academic hub that fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and research. Faculty, students, and external partners will be brought together in purpose-built spaces designed to encourage experimentation and dialogue across disciplines such as management, humanities, engineering, and the arts. These spaces will also support new teaching formats focused on theory, collaboration, and real-world application — turning the campus into a living laboratory where solutions to global challenges are co-developed by academia and society.

Second, the new campus will elevate the in-person experience at a time when digital learning is rapidly expanding. HEC Paris is doubling down on its belief in the importance of physical spaces that foster connection and community. Hybrid-ready classrooms, flexible workspaces, and a new centerpiece — the “Campus Heart” — will be designed to spark creativity and cross-cultural collaboration. More than infrastructure, the goal is to create a vibrant, human-centered environment where students and professionals from around the world can exchange ideas and grow together.

Third, the project reflects a deep commitment to inclusion and community. With students, faculty, and staff representing over 130 nationalities, HEC Paris plans to redesign residences, cultural areas, and sports facilities to promote diversity, self-expression, and engagement. The campus will include spaces for open dialogue, artistic exploration, civic involvement, and student leadership — aiming to provide not just a place to study, but a supportive community where everyone can thrive, take risks, and make a meaningful impact.

Finally, sustainability is a cornerstone of the new campus vision. Nestled in one of Europe’s most picturesque natural landscapes, HEC Paris will enhance its harmony with the environment by designing low-impact buildings that meet the highest ecological standards. The school is targeting BREEAM “Excellent” certification, France’s “Bâtiment Bas Carbone” label, and the “Excellent” level of the BiodiverCity label. Green infrastructure such as walking and cycling paths, tree-covered zones, and restored permeable soil will create an atmosphere of reflection and wellbeing. HEC Paris aims to become a global benchmark for sustainable campus development.

BUILDING A NEW CAMPUS CORE

The €230 million plan will add or renovate 40,000 square meters of facilities across three major areas.

The Campus Heart will become the central crossroads uniting all academic programs from master’s to PhD to executive education. Connected to the school’s historic building, the new facility will include a state-of-the-art library, collaborative workspaces, innovation labs, amphitheaters, and an 850-seat auditorium that opens onto an agora. It will also house dining and leisure areas to support a diverse student community of more than 5,000 individuals annually.

At the southern end of campus, the Château and its annexes will be completely rebuilt and redesigned to serve as a hub for executive education. The space will welcome business leaders from around the world in an upgraded, historically significant setting.

The school’s historic academic building will undergo a full renovation, bringing it up to international standards and integrating it into the revitalized campus.

“This project — the kind the school undertakes only once every 50 years — will reinforce HEC Paris’s global leadership and enhance France’s ability to attract top students and professors from around the world,” says Jean-Paul Agon, chairman of the HEC Paris Board.
