In a world full of complexity and rapid change, the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Executive MBA (EMBA) program is preparing leaders to shape the future of business. Their mission is rooted in developing executives who lead with purpose and performance.

The Carey EMBA has a strong focus on analytical rigor with human insight and values-based decision-making. Over 19 months, students set forth on transformative academic journeys where they will learn business mastery and strategic leadership. All in all, the program is designed to empower them to create lasting value for their organizations and society.

The program’s culture is grounded in the belief that leadership is both analytical and human. The Carey EMBA invites a learning environment where curiosity, collaboration, and courage drive innovation. All executives are encouraged to question assumptions, test ideas, and lead with authenticity.

Students can opt for specializations in Health Care or Leadership and Strategy which makes their academic paths more personal. No matter which they choose, AI is embedded throughout the curriculum to ensure graduates are up to date on the cutting edge of technological change.

Learning takes place in the heart of Washington, D.C., at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg Center on Pennsylvania Avenue – an academic hub housed in the former Newseum. With 38 high-tech classrooms, a 375-seat theater, and rooftop terraces overlooking the U.S. Capitol, the space is designed for both reflection and connection.

The campus is centrally located, which means students have access to federal agencies, think tanks, and major business districts, enriching the EMBA experience with real-time policy and industry engagement. Students have experiential elements to their courses, such as residencies in D.C., a global immersion in London, and the Executive Field Project.

“My favorite aspect of the program is that students engage in unique and inspiring experiential learning, both globally and within the local D.C. area. Participants learn from world-class leadership experts who guide them through novel learning environments that combine active participation, reflective observation, and rich subject-matter content,” says David Smith, Executive MBA Academic Program Director. “Most importantly, students practice leadership and team empowerment by applying these principles to real-world situations, reinforcing their skills in practical and impactful ways,” he says.
