The Wisconsin School of Business at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is set to introduce a revamped executive MBA program in Fall 2024, offering a unique focus on developing effective communication skills for confident leaders. The 18-month program will be delivered half in person and half online, according to a release.

Total cost is $86,400 plus fees.

“We are excited to offer this new program to executives who are ready to invest in themselves as business leaders,” Enno Siemsen, associate dean of the MBA and master’s programs, says in a release. “Our reimagined executive MBA program is designed to offer the content needed to elevate students to the next level of leadership while being flexible and affordable.”

A NEW MODULAR PLATFORM

Students will attend online classes for three hours on Wednesday evenings. They’ll also spend one weekend per month – Saturdays and Sundays – in in-person classes on the UW campus. The program will begin in August with a five-day immersion week at UW and has another four-person residency in March.

The EMBA’s curriculum emphasizes leadership development, business strategy, and decision-making. It is organized into four modules:

  • Develop as a Leader is designed to build executive-level leadership and communication skills. Lessons from this module continue throughout the program. The remaining three modules run consecutively.
  • Run the Business teaches finance and operations for cross-functional business knowledge.
  • Grow the Business discusses growth strategies.
  • Transform the Business teaches how to lead through change and stay relevant through innovation.

The program emphasizes experiential learning, executive mentoring, and career coaching.

“Our executive MBA program is tailored to the needs of busy professionals who want to develop the specific skills they need to level up their leadership,” Siemsen says. “We understand that time and money are precious resources, so we’ve created an accelerated program that combines online learning with in-person residencies for those who are ready to lead their organizations.”

NEW COURSES AND OPTIONAL BADGES

Four new courses were developed to equip students with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s shifting business landscape: Corporate Governance and Board Membership, Growth Marketing, M&A and Global Strategy, and Competing Through AI.

The program also puts a focused emphasis on executive communication and its impact on expanding influence and reach. Professionals enhance their ability to compel, motivate, and connect with specific audiences across various scenarios, including town hall meetings, executive boards, leadership teams, investors, and personal social media channels.

Mentoring, coaching, and development will allow students to complete an in-depth assessment of their track record as a leader. They will get multi-source feedback while getting critical insights on strategies from world-renowned experts on leadership, negotiations, and strategic talent management.

In addition, Wisconsin’s lifelong learning model will offer four badges students may opt to pursue after their EMBA. These include Financial Insight, Customer Insight, Strategic Innovation, and Global Business.

Each includes three courses and takes three months to complete. Students can access up to two non-credit badges within five years of graduation.
