GEORGETOWN EMBA CLASS OF 2026 SETS DIVERSITY MILESTONES

Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business has welcomed its most diverse Executive MBA cohort to date. The Class of 2026 includes 60 students, with women representing 47% of the cohort, a significant increase from 32% in 2023.

U.S. underrepresented minorities now make up 45% of the cohort, compared to 33% in the previous year. This progress underscores the program’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and equity.

The cohort’s global perspective is further highlighted by its representation from 12 different countries, with over 70% of participants having international experience.

“We are pleased to welcome one of the most diverse classes in EMBA program history, which further strengthens the varied perspectives and experiences students gain throughout the program,” says Nita Swinsick, associate dean for graduate and executive program admissions at Georgetown McDonough.

“Characterized by our close-knit cohorts and immersive global experiences, the Class of 2026 will have the opportunity to learn in class and from one another as they grow together and launch the next phase of their careers.”

HEC PARIS NAMES BARBARA STÖTTINGER DEAN OF EXECUTIVE EDUCATION

HEC Paris has named Barbara Stöttinger as its new Dean of Executive Education.

Barbara Stöttinger

Stöttinger has more than 25 years of experience in academia, including nearly a decade leading Vienna University of Economics and Business’s Executive Academy. She brings a wealth of knowledge in international marketing and program innovation.

Under her leadership, Vienna’s Executive Academy saw significant growth in its portfolio of programs, including EMBA and specialized master’s offerings. She is also recognized for her extensive teaching and research contributions, which span North America, Europe, and Asia.

Stöttinger aims to expand executive education’s global footprint and strengthen its focus on artificial intelligence, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and innovation. These align with the institution’s strategic priorities, enabling participants to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and business application. She succeeds Anne-Valérie Corboz, who will remain at HEC Paris as a leadership educator.

TULANE FREEMAN SCHOOL NAMES ASHLEY FRANCIS TO LEAD EXECUTIVE EDUCATION

Ashley Francis has been appointed Assistant Dean of the Stewart Center for Professional & Executive Education at Tulane University’s Freeman School of Business.

Francis previously led initiatives that expanded access and enhanced program delivery for working professionals. Most notably, she played a pivotal role in launching Freeman’s Online MBA program, which has become a cornerstone of the school’s digital education strategy.

In her new role, Francis will oversee a wide range of programs, including the Professional MBA, Executive MBA, and executive certificates. Her leadership is expected to further integrate innovative teaching methods and expand the reach of Freeman’s professional programs.

PORTO BUSINESS SCHOOL INTRODUCES FLEXIBLE LEARNING MODEL

Porto Business School has launched a new Flex Model for its Executive Masters and MBA programs. This model provides students with the choice of fully online or blended formats, allowing them to balance their studies with professional and personal commitments.

Participants can attend select in-person sessions on campus while engaging in live online classes for the majority of the program. This approach minimizes travel and maximizes accessibility, offering a truly flexible learning experience.

The Executive MBA program now includes a monthly block of fully online classes, complemented by in-person sessions tailored for those traveling from outside Porto.

WHARTON ONLINE LAUNCHES AI IN EDUCATION COURSE WITH OPENAI

Wharton Online has partnered with OpenAI to launch “AI in Education: Leveraging ChatGPT for Teaching,” available on Coursera.

Aimed at educators in higher education and high schools, the course offers practical tools and strategies to integrate generative AI into teaching. Participants will learn to prompt AI effectively, design AI-driven assignments, and address ethical considerations around privacy and bias.

Led by Wharton Professor Ethan Mollick and Lilach Mollick, the course builds on their expertise in AI and pedagogy. Participants will earn a joint Wharton Online and OpenAI certificate, further enhancing their credentials in this emerging field.
